You may or may not know that Dreamtheater came through Chicago...again...tonight. I haven't seen them since Gigantour and I hadn't planned on seeing them tonight, but as I've learned in the past (Iron Maiden courtesy of Johnny V.) plans may change at the drop of a hat. Once again, I found myself on the train, coming home from yet another disappointing day at work when I got the call from Jamie. "Dude...we got tickets"
Now, just to plat out the details, Jamie was coming with me tonight to paper the parking lot with our fliers (there is no such thing as "too much" promo), but we were just going to do that and go home....well, all that changed. Here's my official thanks to Tony and Tiff for deciding that they had something else to do tonight. I don't know why you guys weren't there, but your tickets got used and used well. You have many beers coming to you next time I see you. When is that, by the way? Where the hell has the Weiner been?
I do know where half of them were tonight...at the show!! That's right, DRFSRich and the Danimal joined us tonight, along with Dale and Becky, Amber, Jen and Lo, "Shreddy" Eddy, Vitale, and there was a special attendance at the end of the evening by George, the Manowarrior. He came fresh off his MILFhunt, right to the bar. He's such a pro, he skipped the show completely!!! Also have to mention the surprise (to me, at least) was when I saw the infamous T.J. Roxx from Slippery When Wet!! Some of you may remember a band that T.J. and I used to be in called "The Storm"...well, we've both moved on to bigger and better things, but...man, we had some fun back then. If you get a chance to check out his new band, do it!! They play all over the midwest and have been featured in ChicagosRock.com...check em out.
Anyway, we still hit the parking lot, but only got about half way through before DT went on so if you were at the show and didn't get a flier...I apologize for being fat and slow. We missed the opener(s ?) but no biggie...you get what you pay for, right?
You've read it right, kids. This is my blog. If any of you know me personally, you'll know that I am morally against weblogs, but in today's age...you just can't escape them. If you don't know me...please...read on.
My name is Joey Vega (Vega, Vegatron, Asshole, etc.) and I'm the bassist for the Chicago-Area metal band, Sacred Dawn. I've decided to utilize this space on the interweb to share my thoughts with you as things arise in the life of the band. I've seen countless studio diaries and tales from the road over the past years online. I've enjoyed a few, lamented a few more, and completely ignored countless others. This is my "space" (pun intended) that I will use to allow you all to do the same.
I'm going to be doing everything here from giving show recounts to giving band updates...I may even throw in a few things about my personal life too (but let's not get too crazy ;) )
Ok, here's the disclaimer: This is MY blog. What I write here will be solely my thoughts and do not express the opinions or viewpoints of any other SD members or affiliates. I don't want anyone to think that just because I'm into something (like a band, or...a sexual position) that the rest of my bandmates feel the same. Don't get me wrong...they're all incredible guys with excellent taste in musical influences...but this is all me.
So...that said...if anybody wants to know what's going on in the SD universe...this is the place to get it....especially if you want your news filtered through a few extra pounds and a couple cans of Bud Light. Get clicking on those "subscribe" buttons and tell all your friends (at least the ones who would care).
Stay tuned for Episode 1 coming VERY soon. We just got off a HUGE weekend...lots to talk about.
